Advice for First-Time Scrappers

For an experienced scrapper, bringing in scrap metal material to Montgomery Scrap is an easy and rewarding experience. However, to someone who is new to recycling metal, scrapping may sometimes be intimidating. The best way to ensure that you have a successful scrapping experience is to be a smart and organized scrapper! Here are a few tips for those first-time scrappers out there:

1)      Be Safe

Safety is one of the most important aspects of scrapping! Unsafe scrapping can lead to serious injury. Always try to wear close-toed shoes when working with metal material and when making a trip to Montgomery Scrap Corporation. A hard hat, safety vest and gloves are also good choices to wear when picking up and transporting scrap metal. NEVER overload your truck with material.

2)      Be Organized

Something as simple as being an organized scrapper can lead to you making more money! When you bring ferrous and non-ferrous materials to our scrap yard, separating all of your materials beforehand will make your experience easier and faster. Also, please make sure there isn’t any trash mixed in with your materials.

3)      Come Prepared

There are always many customers coming in and out of Montgomery Scrap Corporation every day. Being a prepared scrapper will ensure a quick and problem-free experience for you and for other customers. Scrapping your ferrous and non-ferrous material for cash at our yard is simple: Just drive in to our facility and you will be greeted by an employee who will show you exactly where to go. Also, remember to have a state issued ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID card, etc.) with you in order to get paid for your scrap metal.

Knowing these easy tips can turn any new scrapper into a successful scrapping pro! If you have questions about coming into Montgomery Scrap Corporation for the first time, contact us at (240) 252-2990 and we’ll be happy to help you.
